Why TiVo Branded Blu-Ray Players?

The Australian backers of TiVo are considering TV’s and Blu-Ray players that are co-branded. This is being discussed with local manufacturers. Seems like things are going awry for TiVo. According to Robbee Minicola, CEO, Hybrid TV which is TiVo’s Australian backer, a co branded Blu-Ray Player was at the top of her list.

A TiVo Blu-Ray was like a dream. TiVo and the ability to play Blu-ray DVD’s in one package was a great dream. Initial discussions between Hybrid TV and LG have taken place. This is strange since LG’s interests are conflicting with TiVo’s
Although in other places there have been few co-branded devices, in Australia TiVo probably wanted to keep the limelight to itself. Perhaps at present TiVo is ready to do anything to keep sales up. TiVo has had fewer sales in Australia than expected and Freeview is planning a Blitzkrieg. This means the TiVo needs all the friends it can garner.

The latest news is that TiVo will get the Freeview sticker, which will appear on the new TiVo devices.
