Tivo and Windstream: Win-Win-Win
Windstream and Tivo are now partners. Windstream is US based and provides DSL services. With this partnership Tivo’s DVR services will be provided as a package along with Windstream’s DSL connection. This means that Windstream’s broadband connection will be coupled with a Tivo set top box.
Among other comforts, Windstream users will now be able to enjoy season pass recording, Tivotogo transfers, wishlist searches, interactive services access and more. This package is being offered to consumers starting in the earlier part of 2008.
In addition to television, broadband video will be provided to subscribers. Billing for Tivo’s services will be done with their Windstream bill. Households who do not want to switch from cable to satellite services are the ones who might use this package of services
DVR services are also offered by Verizon, AT&T and other operators. Estimates say that the CAGR of DVR usage is expected to be 25.6% and there will be 82.1 million users in the US by 2012.
According to spokesmen from Tivo and Windstream this is a win-win-win situation for Tivo, Windstream and the end users. Tivo’s emmy award winning user interface along with the reach of Windstream promise to give users a great DVR experience.
