TiVo 30 Second Skip: Getting a 30 Second Commercial Skip with Your TiVo

If you are one of the many proud owners and subscribers of TiVo, you will see that it will have that 30 second skip feature which will advance the programming by 30 seconds. This particular tool is quite handy in zipping through those annoying commercials and get back to viewing your favorite TV show.

Every TiVo model has this feature and you can easily do it via the remote. The first thing that you need to do is start playing the recording. Then, when the recorded TV show is being played, press “select” “play” “select” “3″ “0″ and then “select”.

From here on, you will be able to hear three bongs and after that, you are done.

This will turn the skip to beginning/end button to a 30 second skip button. The button in question will look like an arrow pointing to a line.

If you want to turn off the 30 second skip feature in your TiVo after activating it, you can just repeat the steps when you turned on the feature. Or, you can also restart your TiVo. You have to remember that the default feature in TiVo will not turn on the 30 second skip feature. So, by simply restarting your TiVo, you will reset it to its default features.

As you can see, it is quite easy to enable the 30 second skip feature in TiVo. With this feature, you will be able to skip commercials and continue watching your favorite show the commercial free way. However, keep in mind that this only works in recorded shows rather than on live shows.
