The TiVo Mindset
Many people consider TiVo the best thing that happened to their home entertainment. The action can be stopped, slowed down, rewound and enjoyed again. Important series are not missed and this is the best part of the TiVo experience. However it was only recently that I heard of the TiVO mindset and its use in sales.
Our memory is like an automatic TiVO. It works much like the way TiVo functions. We recall pleasant and unpleasant experiences. When working at sales, we should use the TiVo in our head well to win sales deals. Just like you get glued to your favorite show on TV, you should pay rapt attention to your client. Capture important details accurately so that these can be rewound and gone over to achieve perfection.
When things aren’t understood, ask for them to be repeated just like the rewind and replay feature in TiVo. Clients appreciate the interest. Mentally review important appointments using either a voice recorder or a piece of paper.
Just like you TiVO your favorite shows, you should TiVo your important appointments to make the most out of them. Use the TiVo in your head to clinch sales deals.
