Recording DVD Players In America and Future Entertainment

There must be a reason recording DVD players are less purchased in America. Although these sell well both in Europe and Asia, they are not highly selling items in America. This is why much effort is not made for marketing them either.

According to Makato Ebata, CEO, Hitachi consumer business group there is far higher usage of Cable TV in the US per 1000 people than in Asia or Europe. The programs are repeated, whereas in Europe and Japan, you don’t get too many chances to watch one of your favorite programs.

In the US the non-recording DVD players are popular while in Japan, recording DVD players are popular. TiVo became popular in the States quite quickly. Selling TV’s with embedded hard drives is difficult in the States because of TiVo.

Meanwhile, Ebata says IPTV is likely to become popular among TV manufacturers. Manufacturers are not currently putting the complete web onto the TV. OLED - organic light emitting diode TV features revolutionary technology and perhaps many years will be required to manufacture large numbers of sets. LCD and plasma TV have seen a constant reduction in price. Plasma is likely to survive since it remains competitive for large TV’s.
