InterneTiVo
Watching television on your schedule is the revolution TiVo started. By letting you record TV shows, TiVo has changed the face of the idiot box by making it so flexible. Now this California based company will want to take this flexibility of TV viewing to computers.
There is a new software bundle from Nero that will put TiVo’s recording abilities as well as pausing capabilities to PC’s. This will cost you $99. Dubbed LiquidTV, this new service was recently announced. Recorded television can now be ported onto iPods and Playstation protables. In addition shows can be burnt onto DVD’s.
Says Joshua Danovitz, GM, TiVo – LiquidTV is in line with the new services announced by the company letting consumers access content in so many different places in a number of formats. All this is a part of a new strategy by TiVo to morph into a provider of services rather than just a set top box maker.
TiVo has entered into a number of partnerships like the one with Comcast. TiVo has suffered losses with competing DVR devices eating into it’s market share. Revenues have fallen substantially. But with aggressive marketing and a pointed direction, we can expect surprises from TiVo.
