Interactive Sponsorship For The First Time On A TiVoCast Program

Symantec, the producer of the Norton antivirus security software is the first advertiser to sponsor Interactive advertising during CNET’s TiVoCast program. Interactive Tags and Program Placements will be used by Symantec on the popular TiVoCast program. This program gives viewers technology news.

By clicking on a “thumbs up, CNET viewers can get detailed information on Norton products and later return to where they had paused the program. These tags are being touted as the next big thing in advertising.

With consumers used to fast forwarding commercials, tags offer a new opt in approach to consumer advertising. According to Karen Bressner from TiVo, “These are exciting times for TiVo as we witness our interactive ad solutions gain momentum throughout the media industry and expand beyond linear television to include non traditional distribution channels”

Meanwhile Sally Jenkins from Symantec has this to say – ” TiVo has presented us with a new way of reaching consumers in an ‘on demand’ world”. Of the new advertising approach she said that by using it “we will drive qualified traffic to our site and enable consumers to learn more about how to stay secure on the internet using Norton products.”

The new advertising program will take consumers to a branded Norton Showcase on TiVo with a special offer and long form content. Symantec will promote their award winning products through this avenue as well.
